Catapult Hydra is a genuine speed leader: on a 500 Mbps line Bitdefender retained close to 88% of baseline, around 440 Mbps on nearby servers. A long-distance route still delivered near 250 Mbps and added only about +13 ms of latency, among the best in this batch for streaming and gaming.

Privacy and security

Bitdefender is based in Romania, a privacy-friendly jurisdiction outside the Five and Fourteen Eyes alliances, and encrypts traffic with AES-256 plus leak protection and a kill switch. The trade-off is that the core tunnelling relies on a third-party protocol from Pango/Aura, so some privacy purists prefer providers that own their full stack.
